Operation Kid Comfort

The Armed Services YMCA has a program called Operation Kid Comfort whose sole purpose is to help children whose parent is deployed get through the difficulties that come with the absence of a parent. Depending on the age of the child they either receive a quilt or a pillowcase. All you have to do is fill out a form and electronically send them 9 pictures and they will do the rest. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do all 9 photos of just Greyson and Clayton. When we had to reformat our computer I didn't back up the pictures (I figured they were already on Walgreens.com so why bother)...minus the one of just Greyson and I the rest have Clayton in them. I think it turned out really cute, and I teared up with I opened it (the letter they sent along didn't help). It's nice to know there are organizations out there whose sole purpose is to make the lives of military families a little easier. A big THANK YOU to those who volunteer their time to help the children of the men and women who fight to keep us safe.

  2. Dear Clayton, Grayson and Leslie,

It's been more than five years since I made a photo-transfer quilt to comfort my grandson while his Daddy served overseas. At the time, I had no idea that this one act of Love would grow to something so big. Now with thousands of 'America's Littlest Heroes' receiving Operation Kid Comfort quilts, I can tell you...it brings tears to this grandmother's eyes.

I'm so happy that you have benefited from this worthwhile program. Your quilt is beautiful! I'm also so very grateful to the Armed Services YMCA for making Operation Kid Comfort available to so many.

You and all our military families remain in our prayers,
