Birthday Party turns into Playdate

Today I had a birthday party for Greyson. It turned into more of a play date because it was just two other boys, but it was still fun (hopefully). Greyson mostly played by himself, which is fine - he is still in the parallel play stage. Kyle and Jared played together, and Greyson just observed. He might have been overwhelmed by there rambunctious brotherly play...I think Greyson needs someone to play with so he's prepared for these situations, don't you agree? ;o) Anyway, it was a nice time. I enjoyed talking with Sheri-Lynne - I don't think we've had many opportunities to talk, she's so busy at the MOPS meetings. :o) Anyway, so it was a good day. Now only 8 hours until we pick Whitney up from the airport...I'm getting excited!!!

Playing all by himself.

His choice.

Played with it the rest of the time.

Open it, please!

Kyle was showing us which cars he had at home.

He's really getting excited now!

Big Truck!
Yup, just one tare and he knew what it was.

Opening his present

Jared's like, "what are you smiling about?"

When the boys said "Cheese" Greyson got all embarrassed.

The Best-est of Friends

Ava and Greyson met at MOPPETS, while Katie and I met at MOPS. Katie helped talk me into taking the Publisher position on the Steering Team: I'm glad she did. I'm not sure we would have gotten this close if not for the Steering Team, though between the two of us I think we only made it to like 5. :o) Ava and Greyson have so much fun together. I love watching them play. They are always asking for the other one. When we are at home Greyson always brings up Ava (and Katie)...and according to Katie, Ava asks "Where's Greyson?" often. I don't know about Ava, but for Greyson this is his first real friendship. It makes me sad to take him back to Michigan and away from his Ava. Hopefully we can find a way to keep them connected even though they will be far apart. If not, I guess they will just have to go through the awkward re-get-to-know-you phase. Take a look at all the fun Ava and Greyson have together. :o)

Exploring the beach.

Greyson, wait for me.

Can't go to the beach without throwing a little sand.

On the move.

Trying to keep the shoes dry.
Didn't happen.

This was our weekend.
Constantly pulling up Greyson jeans.
Katie couldn't help but capture the moment.

Doing my best to keep them out of the water.

Trying to get down.

Greyson and Wyatt are going exploring.

Look at all those roots. Doesn't it look cool?
The roots were exposed by one of the hurricanes.

Greyson is clueless that Ava is trying to douse him with water.

Very slippery tubby.

Splish. Splash.
Too much fun!

:o)

Even Katie and I got wet from this tubby.
Crazy kids!

Greyson's not always so sure about Ava.
Her laugh is very boisterous!

Hanging out at the Park.

What does this face say to you?

Hey, Y'all! Guess What's New? Greyson Kenneth Just Turned Two!

Can you believe it? Our baby boy is two years old! It seems like only yesterday that he was a teeny tiny (even teenier and tinier than most) bundle of joy.

Look how far he's come:
Born 2 1/2 months early
On oxygen from day 1 until day 440 (this of course is an approximation)
In the NICU for 102 days
He went from 12 different medications to 4
His eyes are good and so is his hearing - though sometimes I wonder :o)
He was born weighing 3lbs 7ozs and as of the last Dr. appointment he weights 22lbs 2 3/4ozs
He knows his letters, and his shapes.
He knows some number, and colors.
His vocabulary is vast: how many two year old do you know who can say "fantastic?"
He jumps, runs and throws balls.
He can walk up and down stairs.

To think that I was worried.I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful little boy as my son. Things started off a rough, but I wouldn't change any of it for the world. Why wouldn't I? Because who knows if Greyson would still be this wonderful, or if Clayton and I would have made it. Things happen for a reason, whatever it may be, and because of the way things happened I have the life I always wanted.

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Pancakes are Greyson's favorite!

I was singing "Happy Birthday" and he was being shy

Getting ready to blow out the candle

Only he wouldn't (so I did)

Mmm!
Applesauce pancakes topped with strawberry applesauce

Big Bite!

He ate about half.

A present from Grandpa Greg

What could it be?

Help!

A CAT Steamroller (or as Greyson says: Big Truck)

Open it, Please!

It's time to play.

Vroom. Vroom.

Greyson picked out the color

Yeah!

Oh, I Almost Forgot..

New Clothes!

OK. So you're probably thinking, "Why did she buy winter boots when it's almost spring?" Well, the reason being 1) my friends are bad influences and 2) they were on-sale (regular price $60, I paid [with tax] $15.99). Aren't they cute? I thought so. :o)

The depressing part about this purchase is that once I got to Kim's and tried it on I realized that it was too small (not excessively but noticeable). I didn't buy it because I needed one (I already have two) but AT THE TIME I did so I could enjoy the nice day and lie by the pool. I've only worn it twice, so Whitney if you would like to pack one less item you can use this while you are down here and if you like it you can have it. Who would have guessed that a medium would be too small, when I normally wear a small. Target vs. Victoria's Secret, I guess V.S. exists to make women feel good about themselves. As you can see the top can be worn two ways.

Greyson and my new sandals

New shirt (way soft) and new pants
It was a great weekend (as I've already mentioned) but it's nice when you get a chance to do something that you haven't done in a long time...the only bad thing is that I spent WAY too much money. Fun times though!
