Clayton and Leslie get promoted to yellow belt!
I'm a little late posting a blog for Clayton and my promotion. We both got out yellow belts June 8th. It was nerve racking, even though we tested as a group. The pre-test the day before we did individually. They do pre-testing because the school knows that when it comes to testing and/or having a group of people watching our nerves just might get the best of us. I'm very proud of our whole family for our accomplishments. :) I can't wait to learn the yellow belt kata...Sempi Hubert says that this is my kata because I have both grace and power.

Little Dragons Promotion: Yellow Belt
Today Greyson was promoted to yellow belt in his karate class. Greyson is also the youngest child Sempi Hubert has ever had in his class...so he was very honored to be promoting Greyson (that's what he said). Unlike in the Basic class (which is what Clayton and I take) promotion for a Little Dragon is based on attendance; after 10 classes you move up a belt. Last week was Greyson's 10th class so at the beginning of today's class his white belt was replaced with a yellow. We are so proud of Greyson. He was very excited to get his new belt. He had the biggest smile on his face when the presentation "ceremony" was finished. He was very outgoing during warm-up; Today he picked a warm-up exercise (jumping jacks) and then lead the counting. He is slowly learning his kata...we should practice more often (or at least just before class, so it's fresh in his memory)...but from what Sensei Ugi says we are ALL doing well (Clayton and I have testing on Tuesday - I will post pictures of that as well).
Ready for display.

Semper Fi Over the North Carolina Sky: Air Show
We had a great time at the air show. The first year we were in NC we got here after the air show, and then last year Clayton was deployed and I went back to MI, but this year we were able to attend. It was a great day for it. There was a nice breeze which made the beating of the sun's rays bearable, and there were just enough clouds to create some shade every once in a while. Greyson did pretty well considering it was a long day (9:30am-4:00pm), hot day. When we got home we all took a cool shower and got ready to go out for dinner. That was nice as well. Greyson is such a good kid - we can take him anywhere! :)
