Not even a tear.

The boy who says he is going to be a Marine when he gets bigger (he is also going to drive a rocketship and go to the moon, be a Metro-traine driver, and work as a McDonald's drive-thru person so he can give people french fries) got his first motto (motivational) tattoo during our trip to D.C.

Family Vacation: Day 4

The Museums

On our last day in D.C. we went to the museums. We went to the Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Air and Space Museum and one of the art museums. It was suppose to be short trip, because I wanted up on the road by 1pm so we could beat the traffic. That didn't happen. We ended up getting on the road at 3pm. We spent over two hours in traffic (traveling only 20 miles) before we decided to stop for dinner and then hit the road once the traffic cleared. Good thing we did, as Greyson had an accident (number 2, and not the fun kind...if there is such a thing). After dinner we got back on the road (traffic free). We arrived back home at midnight.

The Holocaust Museum was very emotional. I cried. It still boggles my mind that people can be corrupted to believe such things about a group of people, and go so far as to try to eliminate their race completely. When you go through the main exhibit they give you a booklet with the information of an actual person who was in one of the many concentration camps. Clayton's man survived. My two women ( I picked one up off the ground as we were walking through the exhibit) were both killed in the concentration camps. I wish for this museum that Greyson was a little older so that he would have understood. I did explain as well as I could some of what we were seeing.

The air and space museum, which we picked because we thought Greyson would enjoy it, was pretty cool. Lots of stuff to look at and interact with. Greyson did enjoy this museum. He wants to go to the moon, and drive a spaceship when he gets older.

Our last stop was the art museum because Clayton wanted to see the Japanese art exhibit that was on display. It was kind of a let down (if you ask me). But Clayton took few pictures.

Family Vacation: Day 3

Walked the National Mall

Visited the Natural History Museum

On our third day in D.C. we walked around the mall and looked at all the monumets. Two years ago when I was in D.C. I didn't make it over to the Jefferson Memorial...so this time around we made a point to go there. The Cherry Blossoms were in bloom and so very pretty. Greyson did a lot of walking again today, but half way through our day Clayton offered to carry him on his shoulders. Greyson really enjoyed the Natural History Museum. He liked seeing all the animals and all the bones of the dinosaurs. It was a great (cold and wet) day in D.C.
